River Guardians

In March 2011 the Thames Anglers Conservancy launched a River Guardian scheme for the Thames.

The purpose of the scheme is to encourage members to report any signs of illegal fishing, out of season fishing, poaching or other activities. The intelligence we receive is passed on to the Environment Agency for further investigation and is used to build up a clear picture of the potential hotspots.

All incidents must reported to to EA Hotline first on 0800 807060

A list of what should be reported can be found here

Thames Fishery Byelaws

We encourage all river users to report any suspicious nets, traps or set lines, signs that fish or other wildlife has been cooked or eaten.

The river close season is 15th March to 15th June inclusive, no coarse fishing should take place within that period.

Information is key, so the date, time and a photo if possible.

By calling the EA Hotline they will advise if you should remove any items of leave them as evidence.

Please report any findings to the TAC by joining as a member and posting the information through our forum
